Laboratory

Our main analytical tool is an Orbitrap mass spectrometer and associated nanoflow LC system. This instrument provides a high degree of mass accuracy and resolution, ideal for investigations of complex mixtures of natural organic matter like cellular or community proteomes. The associated wet lab enables extraction and purification of biomolecules of interest from virtually any type of sample. Downstream computational analysis of large mass spec data sets is a major component of any proteomics or metabolomics project, and our group develops novel tools and workflows to maximize information return from analyses of challenging environmental samples.
